How TouchNote travelled in 2022

We’re in the midst of Summer, which means the holiday season has been underway for some time now. Social media feeds are being clogged up with photos from summer travels, scents of the beach are still lingering in clothes, and postcards are being sent from destinations which people have dreamt about visiting all year.

The TouchNote team have been travelling abroad, and even around the UK, over the past few months and it’s safe to say that there has been a wide range of adventures. They’ve been experiencing the world in all its glory and more importantly, they’ve been sharing their memories with those who matter most to them. We thought we’d share some of the travels our team have been making recently.

Where did you go?
Glastonbury Festival.

Who did you go with?
I went with my friends Alex (top left), Pat (bottom) and a few of our mutual friends

How long were you there?
I was there for 5 nights (Wednesday – Sunday). Amazingly, it didn’t feel like enough time to take it all in.

What are 3 words you would use to describe Glastonbury?
Too damn big.

What’s your favourite memory from the trip?
From the incredible music to the range of experiences you have at Glastonbury, picking one is difficult. I may have to go with seeing Paul McCartney. Finally seeing a Beatle perform in person was very special and something which I’m proud to say I’ve done.

Favourite meal you had there?
Festival food has a bad reputation but there were some gems at Worthy Farm. I would have to say the vegan arancini balls (with a tomato sauce) were a highlight.

If you could give one tip to someone visiting Glastonbury, what would it be?
Don’t rush around to see as many artists as possible – accept that you will not see everyone. There will be clashes but just make sure you see the artists you want to see and stay for their set. Don’t rush from stage to stage as you won’t enjoy yourself and more importantly, you’ll tire yourself out.

Where did you go?
Switzerland & Black Forest. The picture is from Grindlewald & has Eiger in the background 🙂

Who did you go with?
Shashi, my husband

How long were you there?
5 days (Jubilee weekend)

What are 3 words you would use to describe Switzerland?
Absolutely astoundingly picturesque

What’s your favourite memory from the trip?
We did a 21 km hike all over the Lauterbrunnen region in bright sunshine & pouring rain. The trail had a fantastic view of the Swiss Bernese Alps throughout. Most of hike had really few people & we felt so in sync with the world around us despite being wet & cold at times.

Favourite meal you had there?
Piping hot pizza & a cold mountain beer at the top of Gimmelwald with a view of the snow-capped Alps.

If you could give one tip to someone visiting Switzerland, what would it be?
Hike into the mountains. The view, albeit the same, changes every few feet. Don’t forget to fill up on cheese & chocolates after 🙂

Where did you go?
The beautiful North Norfolk coast.

Who did you go with?
My partner and our 4-year-old rescue Misha.

How long were you there?
One week.

What are 3 words you would use to describe the Norfolk coast?
Wild, tranquil and quaint.

What’s your favourite memory from the trip?
Taking Misha to the beach for the first time! She loved running around, sniffing everything, splashing about and meeting lots of other dogs and people. She then got a doggie ice cream afterwards so it was the best day for her.

Favourite meal you had there?
We had a delicious brunch at The Old Bank in Snettisham. Bonus points for being dog friendly! A runner-up was dessert – super tasty gelato from Mims Ice Cream at Drove Orchards Farm Shop.

If you could give one tip to someone visiting the Norfolk coast, what would it be?
Definitely check out both Brancaster Beach and Holkham Beach and the surrounding farm shops!

Where did you go?
Bantham beach, Devon.

Who did you go with?
A couple of my girlfriends.

How long were you there?
Just for the day.

What are 3 words you would use to describe Bantham Beach?
Hot! Relaxed and chatty.

What’s your favourite memory from the trip?
Probably playing beach boules and dipping our toes in the sea!

Favourite meal you had there?
We got a cheeky hot dog with alllll the trimmings.

If you could give one tip to someone visiting Bantham Beach, what would it be?
Beware of the seagulls, one swooped down and pinched a jalapeño off our lunch!

Where did you go?
Paris, France

Who did you go with?
My best friend Lucy who I met when I first moved to Newcastle 4 years ago

How long were you there?
We went for 3 days & nights total, it was the perfect amount of time to explore the city

What are 3 words you would use to describe Paris?
Beautiful, fashionable and crowded…

What’s your favourite memory from the trip?
Watching the Eiffel Tower twinkling at 10 pm on the dot on our first night. We watched it happen from the bar on the 34th floor of a skyscraper that we visited for champagne and hors d’oeuvres

Favourite meal you had there?
It had to be the steak frites we had at this traditional French restaurant that had been there for 100 years. It completely melted in the mouth. You could definitely tell its age by the décor but it had an old-school, bourgeois feel to it that was unmatched. French food isn’t for everyone but you can be absolutely sure that they do steak very well (top tip: if you like medium-rare, make sure to ask for medium…their cooking scale is slightly different to the UK so they’ll always undercook it).

If you could give one tip to someone visiting Paris, what would it be?
Go and visit the Montmartre area for gorgeous cobbled streets and the best view of the city. The Sacré-Coeur is a must-see, as is the French toast at The Hardware Société!
